Privacy & Safeguarding

Participation should be meaningful—and safe.

How YouthLoom protects contributor information, informed consent, dignity and well-being.

Data minimisation

YouthLoom collects only the information required to manage subscriptions, enquiries or editorial submissions. Private contact details are not published.

Informed consent

Contributors must understand how their work and byline may be edited, presented and shared. Consent may be revisited before publication.

Contributors under 18

Parent or guardian consent is required. Additional editorial judgment is applied to identity, imagery, location and sensitive personal information. Publication is withheld where potential harm outweighs editorial value.

Safeguarding concerns

Submissions that disclose immediate risk, abuse or exploitation are not treated as ordinary editorial content. They require a proportionate, confidential response guided by applicable safeguarding obligations.

Images and creative work

Images of identifiable young people require appropriate consent and context. YouthLoom will not use demeaning, sensational or unnecessarily identifying imagery.
